Unhurried, hands-on, and gentle from start to finish. You set the pace, and the horses meet you there.
The shape of the hour
Four steps, one calm hour.
Groom.
You will start slow, with a brush and a mini who is happy to stand and be fussed over. This is where shoulders drop and shy kids warm up. Most children forget to be nervous somewhere around the third brushstroke.
Learn to lead.
Next you will learn to walk your mini on a lead, gently and safely. It is a small thing that feels like a big deal to a child. Their hands remember it long after the visit ends.
Walk the trail.
Then you head out together on the shaded paths, at a stroll, with the horses ambling alongside. No riding, no rush. Just a slow walk under the oaks with a small friend on a lead.
Take home a keepsake.
Before you go, the kids get a Making Mini Memories coloring page, and you get a few photos worth printing. The kind that end up on the fridge and stay there.
Gentle & safe
Small horses, calm temperaments, guided the whole way.
Miniature horses are, well, miniature. They stand about waist-high to an adult, and Coco, Charlie, Rocky, and Willow are chosen for how gentle and unflappable they are. You are never on your own with them. We guide every step, and we go as slowly as your child needs. And because we are on a therapeutic-riding campus, calm and careful is simply how this place already works.
Toddlers to grandparents, in the same hour.
You do not need to know a thing about horses. Nobody rides, nobody competes, nobody has to keep up. If your little one wants to hang back and watch for the first ten minutes, that is completely fine, and it happens more than you would think. The hour bends to your family, not the other way around.
Before you come
A few things worth knowing.
- Plan for about an hour, start to finish.
- Wear closed-toe shoes. Everyone, kids included. It is a barn.
- Your session is private, just your group and the herd.
- Come as you are. We will handle the rest.
